The monument to the first president of Russia will be opened on February 1, 2011 in Yekaterinburg to mark the 80th anniversary of the birth of Boris Yeltsin.
Work on the creation of sculpture is being completed. Its author was the famous architect George Frangelyan. The flag of Russia - also his work - was set over the grave of Boris Yeltsin at the Novodevichy Cemetery.
In addition to all this, in 2011 Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin Center Museum will be opened. About 2 billion rubles will be allocated from the federal budget for its creation.
The first president of Russia, Boris Yeltsin, was born on February 1, 1931 in the village of Butka in the Sverdlovsk region. Yeltsin died at the age of 77 and was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow.
Boris Yeltsin led Russia at a turning point - in 1991. With his submission, the Constitution was adopted, in which new freedoms and rights of Russians were fixed. Boris Yeltsin voluntarily left the government in 2000 and was the first of the state leaders to apologize to his compatriots for all the mistakes he had made.
